Early Lessons in Magic
In hiphop is where I also began as a writer. Words placed in a particular order, carry the power of discovery. I have always heard this song by Mos Def, as 1 of my favorite. I didnt grow up penning other Mc’s lyrics, as I now hear many Mc’s speak of doing in there youth, but I do now as an adult. Coloring, tea drinking, scribing lyrics all go hand and hand, with MY PEACE of mind. I see and feel Moses words, as if Im living through the described moments. This voice was my tour guide to assist me with my own story. Shout out My Umi, for consciously introducing me to KRS 1, Tribe, and literary greats, like all the elders.

The entire affair’s probably charged with emotion- We hood folk, who know we the Poor Righteous Teachers, My dad had ten before my umi, and didnt have knowledge of self yet. Having me was the beginning of a new, healthy, and prosperous life.
